Why Are So Many Neocons Dive Bombing Rand Paul?
Monday Apr 28, 2014
Monday Apr 28, 2014
Jack Hunter joins the Freedom Report podcast again today along with associated editor Ian Huyett to discuss the neocon onslaught against Senator Rand Paul. Why are they piling on with so many attacks of of late? Everyone knows that Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin's Rand Paul Obsession, but why are so many others lining up to take turns tag-teaming him?
Also, what are the best strategies for liberty? Libertarians tend to be critical of neocons who would force their views on democracy on others. But what about the philosophy of "Rothbard's Button?" Is it a libertarian solution to impose liberty on a nation, if other people in the country don't want it? What are the best ways to get people to accept libertarian ideas, without forcing them on others?

Are Democrats Hypocrites About The Racists In Their Own Ranks? (PODCAST)
Friday Apr 25, 2014
Friday Apr 25, 2014
The party of slavery, the Democrats, are up in arms about the racial comments made by Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, and Republicans concerned about their reelections and TV show ratings are running away from him as fast as they can.

The New York Times reported that Bundy said about blacks that, “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
Obviously Bundy's comments are way off the mark for civil debate, but maybe Bundy is just echoing some of the rhetoric he's heard around Nevada, such as Democratic Senator Harry Reid, who famously remarked on the fact that Obama was "light skinned" and has "no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one." No, that couldn't be it.
Maybe he learned it from Democratic President Lyndon Johnson, who suggested that the "negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days." Could it be? No, maybe it was President Woodrow Wilson, another Democrat, who in speaking to the New York Times about blacks voting for him said, "If the colored people made a mistake in voting for me, they ought to correct it."
When considering the case of Cliven Bundy, you have to also wonder why those who attack him the most, seem to have the longest and most sordid involvement in the history of racism. Are the Democrats hypocrites about the racists in their own ranks?

Should You Trust The Police? (VIDEO)
Thursday Apr 24, 2014
Thursday Apr 24, 2014
Should you talk to cops? The Freedom Report podcast today looks at a story of a woman who was arrested for walking on the wrong side of the street. Although she wasn't convicted of any crime, the sheriff who was defending the police officer's actions claimed that it was "odd" that she would walk away from the cop.
If you're ever approached by a police officer, is the best thing to do just to walk away? How should you behave when approached by police? Is it true that sometimes calling the police for help can get you in more trouble than if you just solved your problems on your own?

Chris Christie Will Never Legalize Marijuana (PODCAST)
Wednesday Apr 23, 2014
Wednesday Apr 23, 2014
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took to the airwaves to bash the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, stoking fears that if he were ever president he'd step up drug raids in states that obey the mandates of their citizens.
Speaking on a Jersey radio station, the governor remarked, "See if you want to live in a major city in Colorado where there's head shops popping up on every corner and people flying into your airport just to come and get high. To me, it's just not the quality of life we want to have here in the state of New Jersey and there's no tax revenue that's worth that."
Christie's rhetoric rings harshly in the ears of those people in Colorado who fear a potential Christie administration might be hostile to federalism and their state's autonomy. The governor's statements also are a strange retreat from his anti drug war rhetoric he used during his second inauguration speech when he said, "We will end the failed war on drugs that believes that incarceration is the cure of every ill caused by drug abuse."
So what's Christie's beef? Is he just another big government Republican who'll say anything to get elected and then put the bootheel on our necks the first chance he gets? Or does he have a single limited government bone in his body?

Would A Military Draft Help Stop Our Country From Going To War? (PODCAST)
Tuesday Apr 22, 2014
Tuesday Apr 22, 2014
New York Representative and Korean War veteran Charlie Rangel thinks we need a mandatory draft. Not only that, but he thinks that now women are legally able to serve in combat roles, they should also be required to register with the Selective Service.
His argument? If more people are in the service, there'd be less wars. He also thinks that the problem with the voluntary service is that it's disproportionately the poor who go and fight in rich men's wars. But is that really the case?
Famous economist and Nobel laureate Milton Friedman once argued with General Westmoreland over the military draft. When Westmoreland stated that he didn't want to command an army of mercenaries, Friedman famously countered, "Would you rather command an army of slaves?"

Teen Suspended For Asking Miss America To Prom, Haters Gonna Hate? (PODCAST)
Monday Apr 21, 2014
Monday Apr 21, 2014
Albert Einstein once said that great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds, and this story brings that quote to life.
Patrick Farve was suspended after getting the guts to ask Miss America, Nina Davuluri, to prom at a recent seminar she attended at their school. Miss Davaluri wrote to the school asking them to pardon him because she wasn't offended by the request, but there were plenty of people to be offended for her.
This episode of The Freedom Report discusses the issues of free speech, male courage, dating, sex, science and technology in show you absolutely won't want to miss. So don't forget to subscribe to us on iTunes so you'll never get behind on your daily dose of economic freedom and personal liberty.

Nevada Senator Harry Reid took a swipe at the protesters supporting rancher Cliven Bundy in his war against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Reid claimed that the rancher's supporters were "domestic terrorists," and challenged their patriotism. Meanwhile, radio host Glenn Beck cautioned against violent right-wing protesters who were the "right's version of Occupy Wall Street."
The issue in Nevada has deescalated in the past week, but as Senator Reid has said, it's far from over. Bundy is still being ordered to pay approximately $1 million in grazing fees for his cattle that are on public land. Libertarian icons Senator Rand Paul and former congressman Ron Paul have joined the litany of voices that have offered some form of support for Bundy against the feds, but the elder Paul believes that the feds will be back with reinforcements.
So what really is at issue in the war against the BLM? With approximately 85% of the land in Nevada owned by the feds, could this issue ignite a modern version of the Sagebrush Rebellion, where Ronald Reagan sided with the rebels to attempt to liquidate federal land holdings? Are there some issues with lunatics on the front lines who want an initiation of violence and for women and children to die on the front lines?
This episode of the Freedom Report takes an objective look at the issues swirling around the standoff in the Silver state.

Two students were permanently suspended from school after walking into an after-hours sporting event with a confederate flag draped around their shoulders. The principal of the school said “The African-American students who immediately saw it really exercised heroic restraint and fortunately a teacher immediately confiscated the flag and took the students out of the gym,” he said.
Obviously schools have a right to maintain order at their facilities, but is wearing a Rebel flag making a racist statement, or is it an issue of free speech? And why after over 100 years are we still fighting the philosophical battles of the Civil War? Was the war about slavery, or states rights?
This episode of the Freedom Report podcast, which is sure to offend almost everyone, debunks some of the myths and legends of the Civil War.

Do Women Really Earn Less Than Men? Ft. Julie Borowski (PODCAST)
Tuesday Apr 15, 2014
Tuesday Apr 15, 2014
Token Libertarian Girl Julie Borowski returns to the Freedom Report podcast to discuss the gender wage gap issue. Do women really make less than men? Borowski argues that they do if you are only comparing the median wage, but if you start to account for other factors including life decisions then it's not really an apples to apples comparison.
Borowski, a policy analyst at FreedomWorks, claims that she's not a feminist and she thinks the problem with the movement is that it doesn't allow diversity of thought. Taking the example of Kirsten Dunst, who was criticized for her views on gender roles, Borowski thinks that people should be allowed to believe what they want about gender without being attacked.
What about her views on traditional marriage? And if a guy and a girl go on a date, who should pay the bill?

Should we be arming commercial airline pilots?
Monday Apr 14, 2014
Monday Apr 14, 2014
The Freedom Report podcast takes on the issue of whether or not we should be arming commercial airline pilots in order to enhance security on airplanes. It's not a new debate, but it's getting more attention after legislation was proposed by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul to lower the barriers for pilots to be able to defend their crew and passengers.
