CoFounder of GOProud Jimmy LaSalvia joins the Freedom Report to discuss his recent flight from the GOP. After a hard fought battle to make the Republican Party more friendly to the gay community, LaSalvia called it quits and is now calling himself an Independent. LaSalvia says that people who demonize homosexuality in the GOP are putting the party outside the mainstream. He even endorsed Robert Sarvis over Ken Cuccinnelli in the Virginia race for governor due to his position on anti-sodomy laws.

Conspiracies: Real And Imagined (Mostly Imagined)

Did you hear about the government snow? Last week citizens across the South were freaking out because they thought that the snow wasn't melting when they held their lighters up next to it. People were quick to claim that the government was creating chemical snow to distract us from tyranny. One commenter wrote: Some skeptics tie the fake snow to a wider and older conspiracy regarding "geo-engineering" and the fear that the government is manipulating the weather to use as a weapon. 

Real skeptics were quick to point out the scientific reasoning behind why the snow didn't melt. But despite that, the rumors still persist. What Really Killed Philip Seymour Hoffman?

Sad news this weekend that Philip Seymour Hoffman died from an apparent heroin overdose. Sources confirmed that Hoffman was found with a needle in his arm and bags of the drug with a street name of "Ace of Spades." Police have reported multiple deaths in recent from the cocktail that contained both heroin and fentanyl, a painkiller for cancer patients. 

This Freedom Report tackles the question of whether the War on Drugs is to blame for the actor's untimely death, or is it a culture that says we shouldn't judge each other when we engage in morally dubious behavior?

Amnesty & The Trouble With Ted Cruz

Senator Ted Cruz lashed out at Republicans for supporting a bill that would provide a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Cruz thinks that a bipartisan push to grant amnesty would destroy Republicans chances at retaking the Senate in 2014. 

"Right now, Republican leadership in both chambers is aggressively urging members to stand down on virtually every front: on the continuing resolution, on the budget, on the farm bill, on the debt ceiling,” Cruz said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News on Thursday.

Cruz was also praised by arch-neocon Jennifer Rubin in the Washington Post recently, claiming that he was striking a more "Reagan-esque" note on foreign policy. But what did Ronald Reagan have to say about Amnesty and illegal immigration? And if the neocons are jumping on board the Cruz missile, is it time for libertarians to jump off?

Mitt Romney Doesn't Want Rand Paul or Ted Cruz For President in 2016

Failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney appeared in an interview on Fox News recently to argue in favor of a candidate in 2016 that represents as broad a spectrum of the party as possible. That list apparently doesn't include Ted Cruz or Rand Paul. 

Also, a new poll shows that Mike Huckabee is in the lead for potential presidential candidates, with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie slipping after his "Bridgegate" scandal. Is the guy who said that government is "Uncle Sugar" to women going to win? 

And is Rand Paul ready to get serious with his rhetoric in the "War on Women" narrative if he has to face down a potential Hillary Clinton?

Is it fair to call Wendy Davis "Abortion Barbie?"

Red State editor Eric Erickson is in hot water with Fox's Greta Van Susteren for doubling down on comments referring to Texas Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis as "Abortion Barbie." 

Van Susteren called Erickson a jerk for describing abortions in gruesome detail as a sacrifice to the demon god Moloch, but considering that Davis staked her career on an abortion filibuster and Vogue Magazine referred to her as "Barbie-like" are Erickson's comments really that unfair?

Racism And Libertarianism: Ft. Professor Steve Horwitz

Professor Steve Horwitz joins the Freedom Report to discuss the New York Times piece "Rand Paul's Mixed Inheritance." Horwitz believes that libertarians can't escape the checkered past of racists who have associated themselves with the movement.

Horwitz also argues that it's better not to try and sweep the past under the rug. He believes that libertarians have to face the past, be honest about it and then move on if liberty is going to be mainstreamed. 

Sex & The State - Ft. Cathy Reisenwitz

Editor of the Sex and the State website Cathy Reisenwitz dropped by the Freedom Report to discuss gender issues, feminism and the libertarian movement. 

Reisenwitz recently debated Token Libertarian Girl Julie Borowski over the question of privilege, and whether or not libertarians need to focus more on these concepts as a means of overcoming oppression. 

In an expansive discussion, Reisenwitz and host Austin Petersen cover issues such as the government suing sperm donors, gender roles, liberty, Hillary Clinton and Rand Paul. 

Is the death penalty cruel and unusual punishment? Ft. Marc Hyden

Is the death penalty a violation of the 8th amendment's rule against cruel and unusual punishment? A recent case in Ohio where a man took twenty minutes to die from an untested lethal injection cocktail is raising concerns amongst advocacy groups. 

One group calling themselves Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty is gathering support from many prominent conservatives and libertarians. The National Advocacy Coordinate for Conservatives Concerned joins the Freedom Report to argue why a consistent pro-life ethic is both morally superior and constitutionally ethical.

Feminism & Libertarianism: Are They Compatible? Ft. Julie Borowski

Token Libertarian Girl Julie Borowski joined the Freedom Report today to discuss feminism in the libertarian movement, and whether the concepts are mutually exclusive. 

Borowski recently took part in a debate with sex-positive individualist-feminist Cathy Riesenwitz, who argued that libertarians should focus more on the concept of privilege. Borowski argued against, claiming that libertarians would do better to focus on individual rights. Borowski beat Cathy in voting 75% to 25%. 

With the likely nomination of Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016, issues such as the "gender income gap" are likely to become major talking points. Are libertarians prepared for these types of debates?
