Friday Apr 11, 2014
Friday Apr 11, 2014
Jack Hunter rejoins The Freedom Report podcast to talk about Rand Paul's secret weapon. If Hillary Clinton wraps up the nomination easily, could Democrat voters go into the GOP primary to vote for someone who they like a little bit more than the other Republicans? And if so, could that man be one Kentucky Senator Rand Paul?

Matt Kibbe's Manifesto:
Thursday Apr 10, 2014
Thursday Apr 10, 2014
Matt Kibbe's new book "Don't Hurt People, And Don't Take Their Stuff," is a hardcore libertarian primer for newbies, but don't call it that. This cleverly disguised free market radical tome written by the President of FreedomWorks aims to give people a spoonful of freedom sugar with their anti-Obamacare medicine.
Kibbe's book begins with the armed coup at his institution that started with him being ousted by then Chairman Dick Armey, but ended with him victorious in maintaining leadership of the organization. The incident, which terrified staffers and caused a brief but brutal rift, Kibbe says was an attempt by the establishment to get FreedomWorks to support squishy candidates that don't further the org's mission.
Kibbe explains why FreedomWorks is focusing resources on the effort to unseat Mitch McConnell from his position as senate minority leader. Kibbe argues that it's not FreedomWorks who is really leading the fight anyway, it's the activists on the ground in Kentucky who want him out and he's just providing them with the resources to do so.
Tyranny, Taxes and the NSA are all covered in this expansive interview about Matt Kibbe and his new book, "Don't Hurt People, And Don't Take Their Stuff."

Is John Bolton a libertarian?
Wednesday Apr 09, 2014
Wednesday Apr 09, 2014
One day in the hall at Fox News, Judge Andrew Napolitano chased me down and said, "Austin, you'll never believe what just happened."
"John Bolton just stopped me and said he wants to be on Freedom Watch. He wants to talk about how libertarian he is."
My eyes shot wide open, "Huh? Arch-neocon Ambassador bomb-Iran-into-oblivion Bolton?"
"The one and only," the Judge responded.
I scratched my head, "Alright, well... I guess I'll book him."
How does one define a libertarian? Ludwig Von Mises once defined liberty by explaining that "Liberty is always freedom from government." Many libertarians today would most likely agree with that definition. But despite near universal agreement on this precept, there is never a dearth of disagreement on just who or who is not a libertarian in society today. So if you asked someone to name a prominent libertarian in society today, would Ambassador John Bolton come to mind?
To Bolton, libertarianism is about limited government that acts only within a constitutional framework. He says it's a philosophy that he's "very comfortable with," for the reasons that he claims to agree with libertarians on nearly all issues of domestic policy, limited government, personal responsibility, and lower taxes. Still, in an interview on The Freedom Report, Bolton veers off the traditional libertarian viewpoints on issues such as the War on Drugs and foreign intervention.
Bolton believes that many of the problems that Americans experience with healthcare are due to government interference. He argues that a lot can be done for the less fortunate members of society without the need for initiative such as Obamacare. "What if the government was as involved with food as it is with healthcare?" he asks, making the case that intervention into the sector would be as likely to cause food shortages as it does for medicine. It's hard to disagree that Bolton is a libertarian on this issue.
But what about issues of war and peace?
The question we ask of Bolton is: how much national defense do we really need in order to protect our security? And how involved should the United States be in forging mutual defense treaties with nations such as Ukraine, Poland, or even Britain and France? Should we be expending American blood and treasure to defend our allies, even if there doesn't appear to be any clear U.S. interests?
Bolton argues that you avoid a war by being strong, not by being weak, and that the policies of the Obama administration have given carte blanche to foes such as Russia to expand their sphere of influence in eastern Europe. The United States should be aggressively countering the moves of Russia in order to display our willingness to go to war, so that we can avoid one.

With Marijuana Legal In Colorado, Crime Starts Dropping (PODCAST)
Tuesday Apr 08, 2014
Tuesday Apr 08, 2014
Remember when people thought that legalizing marijuana in Colorado meant there would be chaos in the streets? Douglas County Sheriff David Weaver said "There will be many harmful consequences. Expect more crime, more kids using marijuana, and pot for sale everywhere." But despite that dire warning, for the last three months, crime has been on the decline.

And that's not all. Not only has property crime and violent crime begin to fall, but the Mexican drug cartels are taking a hit as well. The price of marijuana has plummeted from $100 a kilo to $25. Unfortunately that means that Mexican drug farmers are switching from growing pot to growing poppies to make heroin. Guess it's time to legalize heroin to put these guys out of business?
Has all of this made Washington D.C. learn their lesson? Hell no! In fact, the Drug Enforcement Agency director Michele Leonhart recently chastised President Barack Obama privately for comparing marijuana to alcohol and has stated that pot legalization "makes us fight harder." That makes sense though if your job is to bust people for drugs. Big government will do anything they can, including put non violent people in prison for decades if it means that at the end of their careers they get to collect a paycheck at the taxpayer's expense.
But that doesn't mean we have to sit back and take it! All that and more on the Freedom Report podcast!

In Chicago: Concealed Carry Up, Gun Crime Down (PODCAST)
Monday Apr 07, 2014
Monday Apr 07, 2014
The Washington Times is reporting that the murder rate for the first quarter of the year in Chicago is the lowest that it's been in more than 50 years. The first three months of 2014 are the fewest since 1958.
Representative Louie Gohmert stated, “The facts are every time guns have been allowed, concealed-carry has been allowed, the crime rate has gone down,”
Another interesting statistic is that even though violent gun crime is at the lowest its been nationally in 20 years, the American people's perception is that gun crime is on the rise. Could it be that the media constantly hypes incidents such as those at Fort Hood, Newtown and in Aurora and tends to downplay those where violent crimes were deterred by people who were armed and ready?

LGBT Witch Hunt Takes Down Mozilla CEO: Free Speech or Fascism? (PODCAST)
Friday Apr 04, 2014
Friday Apr 04, 2014
Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich was pressured to step down after it was revealed that he donated $1,000 to California's Proposition 8 ballot measure against gay marriage. In a story twist, it was revealed that the Internal Revenue Service was responsible for a leak in which they turned over the donor records of the campaign to a gay rights group.
The controversy heated up when dating website OKCupid asked users not to access their site using the browser as an act of protest, which initiated a firestorm that resulted in Eich's resignation. Curiously enough, Eich presided over some of the most pro-gay policies of any company in America, including health care benefits and anti-discrimination policies. It also was revealed that he donated to libertarian leaning former congressman Ron Paul. So why did he donate to Prop 8? And were the tactics used to get Eich to step down legitimate?

Let Them Eat Meat And Cheese!
A new study from the Medical University of Graz found that vegetarian diets are tied to generally poorer health and quality of life than their carnivorous counterparts. The study also found that people who didn't drink regularly are more prone to heart disease than regular alcohol imbibers.
Also, did you know that vegetarian women are less likely to be attracted to vegetarian men? Apparently that's the case according to a study cited by associate editor of The Libertarian Republic Ian Huyett.

Should Women Be Serving In Combat?
Wednesday Apr 02, 2014
Wednesday Apr 02, 2014
The Freedom Report podcast today takes on the issue of female marine officer candidates who can't pass the physical requirements to serve in combat roles. Although 3 enlisted female marines have reportedly passed the less rigorous infantry training course, no women have been able to make it through the even stricter infantry officer course.
Follow TLR on Google+
In a piece for the Washington Post, Second Lt. Sage Santangelo argues that the reason that female officers are not passing the test is because they are not being trained to the same standards as men. She believes that women are more than capable of doing the pullups required if the initial training programs were made to suit their biological difference in upper body strength. Santangelo claims to be able to do 16 pullups.
Female warriors have a long and fierce history in combat throughout history. One woman by the name of Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester won the Silver Star by leading a counterattack that killed 27 insurgents, three of them with her own rifle. And in the Israeli military in 2007, one woman saved the life of a fellow soldier by crafting a tourniquet out of her bra.
So should women be serving in combat? And should we be holding men and women to different standards?

Should we ban male and female circumcision?
Tuesday Apr 01, 2014
Tuesday Apr 01, 2014
The Freedom Report podcast takes on the difficult issue of circumcision between girls and boys. A new NBC story is reporting that female genital mutilation (FGM) is on the rise and that somewhere around 150,000 to 200,000 girls in the United States may be at risk.
The debate over whether it should be legal for girls to be circumcised in the U.S. is over, it's against the law. But should it be the same for boys? The issue lies in the difference between the health issues involved and the moral issues of consent as well as the right of religious freedom. This podcast takes on both in a show that's sure to get you talking about whether it's ever OK to cut a child.

Are Liberal Racial Activists Cannibalizing Themselves? (PODCAST)

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS SHOW PRODUCED BY TWO WHITE MALES WITH OPINIONS
Liberal race warriors are eating their own after comedian Stephen Colbert's team tweeted a satirical joke making fun of racial stereotypes. Now racial activists are engaged in a great civil war online over the meaning of satire and whether white males are allowed to have opinions.
The controversy began when someone at Stephen Colbert's team tweeted a joke that was a satirical poke at Redskin's owner Dan Snyder, who is fighting to keep the name of a team that's become the latest target of the politically correct police. Making fun of Snyder's attempt at downplaying the name of the team, Colbert said on his show that he was going to make amends for his own character he played called Ching Chong Ding Dong by setting up the Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever.
Hashtag activist Suey Park, who is an outspoken feminist and anticapitalist, immediately began a campaign on Twitter called #cancelcolbert, which was aimed at sparking a conversation about liberal racism and asian stereotypes. In an interview on the Huffington Post Live last Friday, Park responded to criticism from her fellow liberals over the fact that she's seemingly unable to understand the point of satire, which prompted her to discount their opinions seeing as how the hosts were both white males.

Are white males even allowed to have opinions about race? Well the hosts of the Freedom Report podcast do, so listen in and send us an email with your thoughts. But before you do, (WARNING :THE FOLLOWING IS SATIRE) don't forget to check your privilege you cisgendered, capitalist white-male scum!
